Batch Gueye at the Frome Festival!

14th July 3pm-4p

Sam's Kitchen Deli
8 Stony Street

Free entry, donations gratefully accepted

We are very excited to present the amazing Bristol-based Senegalese artist Batch Gueye for this special Groove Tots Gigs event in this year's Frome Festival. Come down and join us for a family-friendly afternoon hang upstairs at Sam's Kitchen where you will be transported to West Africa!

Coming from a long lineage of singers on his mother's side, Batch is a West-African Griot, a storyteller through his music and dance.

Singing Baye Fall chants is where Batch found his voice. Batch's songs are about life experiences: about travel, immigration, places he has lived in and people he met and is grateful to. His songs also talk about feelings such as love and jealousy combined with life wisdom, teaching you to be good to yourself and respect those around you to listen, to trust and to have faith in life.

Batch sings his songs in the Senegalese language Wolof, however, language is not a barrier to understanding his music. The passion Batch has can be heard in his soulful voice and understood by all.

Deborah has a rare and timeless voice with a purity often likened to Sandy Denny or Joni Mitchell. She performs a wide range of celtic music, classics, and her own self penned songs that chronicle her travels, love of nature, and journeys of the soul. For this special occasion Deborah will also read a collection of children’s poems by the Pre-Raphaelite writer Christina Rossetti who once lived and ran a girls school in Frome in 1853. For more information visit Deborah’s website on www.deborahrose.co.uk
